COME SING WITH US & THE SAN ANTONIO SYMPHONY!
The San Antonio Symphony Mastersingers, under the direction of Dr. John Silantien, hold auditions every summer just before the start of the next season. Openings are usually available in all voice parts. Auditions consist of vocalizations, ear testing, sight-reading, and a prepared solo (if the singer has one). An accompanist will be provided.
Rehearsals are now underway for the Mastersingers’ 75th concert season, 2019–20, presenting three performances with the San Antonio Symphony at the Tobin Center, including Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 ‘Resurrection’, Mozart’s Requiem and an evening featuring Brahms’ Schicksalslied Op. 54, Song of Destiny and selections from Wagner’s Die Meistersinger von Nüremburg. An independent presentation of Handel’s Messiah December 8th at University United Methodist Church, an appearance with Andrea Bocelli at the AT&T Center December 11th, a free concert - Love Songs Through the Ages - February 23rd at St. Philips College and the 17th Annual Musical Shower of Roses concert at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Little Flower round out this 75th Anniversary Season. A summer 2020 choral tour to Scotland, Wales and England is also planned.
Auditions will be held again in August, 2020.
